About Mrs. Boven
From the Midwest to the Southwest, I have arrived in Surprise, AZ. I graduated from Illinois State University (Go You Redbirds!) in Normal, IL. I was born and raised in a suburb of Chicago but my heart belonged to a different state. I grew up visiting my grandpa and grandma in Scottsdale and learned to love the desert. When the time came to apply for teaching positions, I decided to make the move to Imagine Rosefield, some 1,800 miles from home in 2011. I am now starting my 7th year of teaching at Imagine Prep Surprise. I am so excited to get to know a new group of students! I have begun a new educational journey, starting my masters through Texas A&M University. I will graduate in 2018 with a M.Ed. in school counseling.
Outside of school, my horse takes up a lot of my time. I bought Sedona during college after my first horse had to be retired. When not at school or the barn, I like to read, hang out with friends, play sports, volunteer at church, and travel with my husband.
I have been to 30 of the 50 states and I have been to 5 countries outside the United States. I studied abroad in Brighton, England during college but Italy has been my favorite destination so far. South Africa, Spain, Egypt, Greece, and Australia are still on my wish list.
